This handy unit simply folds up into is own cordura bag and away you go. Simple, easy and well-engineered to say the least.

However, as most of you know, we at Off-Road.com don't always just perform the so-called standardized product review. I mean we use it, beat it, throw it in the back of the truck, use it some more, maybe clean it, run it over and then use it again. Then we'll give you the goods on whether it stood up to the brutal test of Off-Road.com staffers who provide the event coverage. Whether these guys are in mountains, desert or city, they use it, abuse it and provide the bottom-line on whether it will survive a season at ORC.

We met a Pit2Go retailer named "Steve" at the BITD contingency and technical inspection at the Terrible's Town 250, which was held in Pahrump, Nevada on the last weekend in April 2003. And after a short meeting, we were walking away with the latest gizmo to replace the ancient washing machine tub. After a complete and thorough examination of the latest technology in folding washing machine tubs, no doubt this was well-built. Made of 13-14 gauge steel and coated at extreme hot temperatures with a ever-lasting black material that will not break off, The Pit2Go was certainly ready to be tested in the wilds of Baja California.

The ORC staff are desert campers and travelers of the entire Western United States, we were sure we could give this product a complete decent review. Well, that's if you consider using it daily for over a month a decent review!!!

And so, only days after the race, the Pit-2-Go replaced the ancient and reliable washing machine tub in the back of ORC's Dodge Desert Tank for an epic wild adventure in the back crountry of Baja. The plan was for DesertBull of ORC and Wild Bill of BFGoodrich Motorsports Support Team to lead, guide, camp, cook and motherhen 20+ motorcycle and quad riders over 606-miles of the Baja 2000 course from the Millennium Baja 2000 race.

We trekked 157-miles on the first day from the Sea of Cortez to the cool Pacific Ocean where we put the Pit-2-Go together for the first time. Sitting on the sand along the Baja Pacific Coast, we muddled through the instructions, and then did what most strong headed men would do and just try to figure it out because we were too impatient to read the instructions. After a few trys, it was all togther.

You simply removed it from the nicely fitted cordura bag and bingo it nearly opens itself. After placing the fire box inside and on the bottom, the corner pieces fit into the slots on the fire box.

For this assembly task we employed a young lady (11 years-old) to put the Pit-2-Go together. Without reading the instructions that she claimed she didn't need, she had the used, beaten and dirty Pit-2-Go assembled in less than one minute. If she could do it in less than a minute, no doubt an adult could easily configure this assembly within five minutes.

The box is slotted on each side and it's relatively easy to figure out what goes where. After installing the sides, the bottom grill lays upon four tabs or you can leave it out and you're ready for a campfire.

However, if you are going to cook with charcoals, you place the grill onto the four obvious tabs that are mounted on the sides that say, "Pit2Go," and you merely place the charcoals on top of that grill and light your fire.

Twenty minutes later, install your the top grill on top of the Pit2Go and place your marinated rib-eye steak upon the grill. Leave a small amount of room near the center of the grill for a small frying pan. Then fill it with fresh peeled shrimp and cook in olive oil & garlic. In only minutes, you'll be sitting on that Baja Pacific Coast in heaven. Because, I can tell you, WE WERE!!!

Our Pit-2-Go Folding Washing Machine unit came equipped with a fish fry grill for barbequeing the shrimp and a special handle for removing the grill from the top of the fire without burning or injuring yourself. Just Awesome!!!

We traveled over 1100-miles in the truck on that trip and the Pit-2-Go traveled with us in the bed of the truck with much of the other equipment. Over 600-miles of that trip was on the Baja 2000 race course. That's where we experienced the only flaw in our brutal "Baja Proven" product review.

After only 275-miles of our wild adventure, I noticed the Pit-2-Go sitting strangely in the back of the truck bed. At a break, I noticed that it was cock-eyed about 3 inches. Once I removed it, I saw the problem. The metal stem legs on one side had not withstood the bouncing up and down the Pit-2-Go had encountered upon the dirt Baja 2000 race course. The truck was loaded to the gills, so we weren't barreling down the race course, but we were moving and subsequently we had failed to secure the Pit-2-Go to the truck bed. Two of the legs were crushed by it's own weight. The good news is that the Pit-2-Go never lost a beat and is still working without a problem even though it's leaning like the Leaning Tower of Piza'.

Our plans are to have it repaired at Paul Fox's Custom Fab shop, but time is of essence around this place. And we've been on the go traveling across America and demonstrating the Pit-2-Go to rockcrawlers and desert racers across the Western United States. Remember, these guys are racers who build and engineer their own race cars. Many race engineers have looked at the ORC Pit-2-Go and have marveled at the simplicity involved and how easy it is to set up and take down.

The other good news is, the ORC Pit-2-Go has traveled over 13,000 miles of Off-Road.com adventures since we took possession of it 93 days ago. From the concrete jungles of Southern California to Durango, Colorado and down to Bahia de Los Angeles, the Pit-2-Go has certainly proved it's rating of 9 out of 10 stars!!!
